Found out today that if you add a slice of onion in the same container as a cut avocado it stays fresh and doesn’t go brown

  1. If this works, thanks so much! I usually use lemon juice over it, but that could preserve the flavor better without the citrus.

  2. Can anyone else report if this works? It seems so random and I can’t think of a good reason why it should.

  3. Also, cut up onions next to your bed works as well as any decongestant when you want to sleep and also breathe. There’s nothing those fellas can’t do

Oh yes, you can also add some lemon juice to it, may not be as green as this one, but it helps a lot on stopping it going brown

I’ve always stored them with lemon juice! Vacuum sealing them works wonders too

I put mine in a air tight mason jar and it works just as good. Wait till you put your fruit and veggies in white vinegar and they last for weeks.

My mom used to use beer to do the same thing. Lemon juice also. I didn’t know about onion. But we stopped buying avocados because so often we would end up with bad ones.

You can also put the avocado in an airtight container filled with water. It won’t last forever but it works for 1-2 days

Have also heard that leaving the center pit in the container also helps.

  10. The same happens if you leave the seed on the top of the avocado

  11. Didn’t read much but the avocado pit in guacamole keeps it fresh

Just keep the seed in. Even works for guac.

  13. wait!! what?? I usually splash it with lime juice to stop oxidization . If this really works, you’re my hero!

    Can confirm 👍🏼
A sliced red onion in the same airtight container will preserve the avocado for days
    It’s quite amazing
