The French Dip combo at Salt Hanks which is literally right next to John's of Bleecker. The bread was nice and crunchy even after dipping it. Highly recommend.

Yum! Is there good amount of seating?

  2. Crazy lines? Wait times? I’m not a huge French dip person, but that looks phenomenal, especially the bread.

That bread looks like it is going to rip up your mouth, prob worth it.

They opened? Was near there yesterday and the place didn’t look close to ready. How many hours were they actually open? Did they close early?

    First thought: that looks great

Then read OPs reply on the prize…

    Good lord

I would destroy that and take a nap before I can feel bad about how much I spent on it.

Thanks for sharing, I’m always looking for a good french dip and they’re not that common

    That price is offensive.

edit: ah, the guy is a TikTok’er… makes sense, take the money and run i guess.

  9. hapticeffects

That’s all absolutely insane price, worse than the new borek place down the street.

It looks great, but the instant I saw that it’s $40, it become significantly less appealing. There’s no way in hell I would pay anywhere near that, it’s not worth it.

And on a slightly less related note, I can’t be the only person sick of places charging a separate price for fries. I don’t know if that’s just an NYC thing, but everywhere I’ve ever been prior to moving here, you paid one price for a sandwich or burger, and fries are included in that price. I guess if you’ve lived here your whole life, it’s maybe a nonissue, but for me, I look at the price somewhere and think, “that sounds decent”, and then find out it’s basically for JUST the sandwich, and the price instantly becomes way less reasonable. Especially when some places here charge as much as $7 to $10 for fries.

The main issue is that there’s not even a “discount” for getting them together, which again, is common practically everywhere else. For example, go outside the city, and a side order of fries might be $7, but adding them to an order with a sandwich or burger (if they aren’t already included) would only be a few dollars. Oh well, that’s my rant for the day lol

  11. Almost $40 for a sandwich and potato sticks is absurd

40 bucks ???? I was about to walk over and grab some until I read that

That guy came up in my feed and lacks basic cooking skills. I highly welcome him to NYC, will draw a crowd of the people who I don’t want to share a restaurant with and will keep them from eating somewhere that I do want to go to.

Maybe I’m crazy but that bread almost looks too crunchy for a sandwich where it’s gonna rip up your mouth

  15. No_Consideration4594

Is it really $40 for a sandwich

  16. Wait I live like half a block from there, is this where the ice cream place was? I loved that ice cream place

  17. ourannual

Hope this place fails tbh, the tiktok to restaurant pipeline must be nipped in the bud

  18. Apprehensive_Link993

$40 for a French dip, anyone know what kind of beef they are using? Prime? Wagyu?

  19. inthesludge_

Is that the guy that assaults his food? Pass

  20. Cartadimusica

Might as well get a comfy seat and a burger at Minetta

  21. MeanLock6684

That is the smallest, most expensive French dip I’ve seen. Impressive. This spot will milk “foodie” tourists for years to come.

  22. bottomsup0219

I was kind of shocked by the prices tbh but I had already waited in line so I just tried it. The fries were not worth $7. The sandwich was good and very filling but at $28…this is prob a one and done situation

Thinking of going on Wednesday for lunch, do you guys think they’ll be a long line at 12pm? :/

I went there for the “big snake” breakfast sandwich but when I got there they said they were all out of snake. I was allowed to look at the regular breakfast menu which had basically none of what I wanted. The whole experience was bizarre and I ended up just getting a kenny rogers roaster meal and a mountain dew from a local retailer
