Even though it’s frozen and pre-prepared, good unagi still has a rich, tender texture and that delicious sweet-savory flavor. It’s one of my favorites to enjoy at home or in casual sushi restaurants.

I do! I’ve never heard Kaitenzushi translated to Sushi train before but I love it!

This is a preparation I wish I had seen in my days in sushi. We always used the frozen, but we were on an island on the other side of the world.from Japan so…

I thought I loved unagi because I always enjoyed it in sushi.

I saw a post I think here extolling it’s virtues so the next time I was at a Japanese restaurant I ordered an eel set.

I found eating that much of it, the texture started to disagree with me, felt too slimy. Maybe It wasn’t good eel, who knows. Still like a bite of it as sushi but not a whole plate of eel.

Unagi is honestly one of the best ways to eat eel.

Unfortunately, many eel species are endangered and on the verge of extinction, and they currently cannot be raised in fish farms, as young eels only develop properly in the open ocean.

Love it! I really need to buy it more often!

  6. Good unagi is one of the best things ever. Unfortunately I tried buying it from the market and making it myself, but it just isn’t as good.

I don’t really care for the pre-prepared stuff which pretty much every single unagi you get outside of Japan. I will settle for it but the difference between this and fresh kabayaki is night and day

Yes you need time to grill it, bathe it with sauce and grill again but need to be careful otherwise it will burn.

I love it. My husband, on the other hand, is a picky eater and can’t bring himself to eat it.
