Recently I have tried my first ever can of sardines. And I must say I was pleasantly suprised.

So now I am gonna try more different cans.
Starting with this cheap one. It was nothing special but I am finding a real liking for sardines. (And it is healthy aswell!)

I tried it on some toast with some diced onions, mayonaise, lettuce and finishing with some lime juice and chili flakes.

One of you said mustard is a good one so might try that next.

  1. I don’t wanna be a boring party stopper, but the fish you ate weren’t sardines in a biological sense… sprattus sprattus are sprats (or brisling sardines), which is a different species. The “real“ sardines are from the sardine family (for example the european sardine, sardina pilchardus).
But it doesn’t actually matter, als long as you enjoyed!! Have fun trying different species and cans, but I firmly recommend try pilchards next time you’re out shopping for cans. It’s quite a different experience. Also sprats are known as a food with very high purine content, so I would be careful.

Man marketing can be confusing sometimes 😅
