I grow red jalapenos all the time and prefer the red ones over the green ones any day

red for the win sweet then heat

Definitely more sweetness on the red, maybe even more heat if picked relatively soon after turning colour. If left on the plant for too long (like seed company – long, we’re talking picking it a bit “squishy”), the heat could actually go down a bit in most peppers

Reds sweeter, green is sour. I prefer red unless I’m pickling them

Ok, we tried both and red is the winner. First time growing them and first time trying a red.

Red is definitely better tasting but has a shorter shelf life. Grocery stores sell them green because they ship better.

Smoking the reds with pecan wood = chipotle
