Okay, I don’t know why it took me this long, but I finally had a legit seafood boil and wow crab legs all soaked in that buttery, garlicky sauce. I was a complete mess eating it, but totally worth it. also, cracking open crab legs is lowkey therapeutic 😂

I don’t love the sensory experience of all that butter and garlic and stuff all over my hands, but I’m willing to tolerate it for a good seafood boil. I swear I could eat my weight in shrimp and crab legs from a good boil bag like that.

Where did you eat that? We’ve had a lack of decent mud bugs here in South Central Texas for a few years so I haven’t had a nice boil in a while. Those crab legs look so good!

It’s good stuff, I pick up crab legs at Sam’s club for around 11/lb, and do a boil with some store bought spicy crab boil seasoning, potatoes go in first, then 10 minutes later I’ll add some sausage, neck bones, let that cook for about 5 minutes, and finally toss in some corn when I add the crab. Clarified butter is easy to make as well.

It’ll come out good anyway you do it, but I don’t care for the corn or crab to be overcooked. Overcooked crab is hard to get the full meat sections out, since the shell just bends instead of breaking.

Pro-tip, bend the crab legs in the opposition direction of the joint until it snaps and then give it a little side to side wiggle and the whole thing slides out.
