I have been eating 2 jars of peperoncini every single week! (Mezzetta if you're curious, as I like the crunchy ones). My cravings for these things are off the charts. I have always been big into spicy foods and I have TONS of hot sauces like Blaire's Ultra Death, da-bomb, Yellow Bird, Melinda's, etc. But something about peperoncini keeps me addicted like crack.

I literally went down stairs tonight to find that my jars were all gone. Ever since Covid my local stores all close early (10pm) rather than being 24/7 like they always used to be. I have literally been eating pickles, spicy foods, anything with salt or vinegar to try and get rid of the craving. It's been going on since midnight and it's like 3am now. I have never had a craving so badly that I couldn't sleep.

What in the world are they putting in those things? Perhaps my body is craving a vitamin or something that is in those peppers?

    Mezetta is the the best widely available for pickled peppers and olives. Wish they would do habanero

  2. I thought I was the only one… I’ve been crushing these for about 20 years. Love the soft wrinkley ones with a lot of crunch and I always peel them like a banana haha

    Lol I had some of the “Hot Chili Peppers” from Mezzetta, they weren’t even that spicy, but I coughed once and they made my throat close and my throat was burning, it was terrible. 😅

    Not sure. I only eat fresh peppers, because the pickled ones just taste like vinegar to me.

    Between pickled peppers and hot sauces, it’s tough when you like heat but hate vinegar.

    I’ve been crushing these for over 30 years. And yeah, I crave them at all hours but especially at night for some reason. I just had a couple myself. They go surprisingly well back to back with bourbon. If you don’t just drink the juice, use it to brine chicken.

    Edit to add, I like the Vigo brand.

    Egg salad, chopped salad, pizza, antipasti, garlic bread… delicious!

    There is not a single other food on earth that i can just look at, that makes me salivate so crazy, and instantly, the way that Mazzetta Pepperoncinis do. Its been a thing since I was like 12. Im 40 now and here I am scrolling reddit… I see a picture of the jar….FUCKIN BOOM!!!! DROOLING!!! Im actually kinda relieved im not the only one. Guess I better go get my jar out of the fridge now.

  12. We don’t get that brand here in Australia but I love chopping up pickled peppers for chicken salad. I could eat a whole loaf of sliced bread with my mum’s chicken salad (chopped up grapes is the special touch)

    I’m right there with ya. My favorite foods to combine with them are pizza & deli sandwiches. I bite the top of the pepper off, then douse the food in the pepper vinegar. Though, raw doggin’ these peppers is just as satisfying.

    If you like these, give Mezzetta’s hot chili peppers a try too. Now those things pack a punch!

    Pro tip also… if you or someone gets a really severe case of the hiccups, pour 2 full shot glasses of this juice. Make them drink one, wait a few seconds, then they drink the other. Out of over a hundred tests, its failed less than 5 times. I got multiple $100 tips when I did this to folks when I worked in the service industry.

    I like Mezzetta but they’re usually more expensive than Pastene and Pastene sell them in a 24 Oz jar. I haven’t not had a jar of peperoncini in the fridge for probably 10 years. I use leftover juice to pickle eggs.

    My cousin and I would have peperoncini eating contests every xmas and Easter when our grandmother would put these out in her antipasta. Now I eat them like candy.

    Man, I love these, but for some reason, these are the only kind of pickled peppers that give me horrible, horrible heartburn. Pickled jalapeños/habaneros? Nothing. A few peperocinis? You best believe I’m waking up that night choking on stomach acid lmao
