A Coles customer has been left baffled after spotting a Christmas item in the bakery section this week – an addition that seems to have arrived way ahead of schedule.
And according to the retail giant, it’s no mistake nor is it a brief appearance to celebrate Christmas in July.
Coles has confirmed it’s stocking Christmas mince pies from now until December, in three delicious varieties.

This follows a successful trial in 2024 across the eastern seaboard, with customers loving the early release of the traditional favourite.
Last year Coles sold more than 50 per cent of fruit mince pies before December, with customers purchasing 1.8 million packets – and some products selling out completely before Christmas.
This year, Christmas Mince Pies will be stocked in stores across the country and online.

Coles Development Chef Michael Weldon said the early Christmas arrivals were designed to help customers experience the joy of the season during the winter months.

“We’re excited to offer delicious mince pies that capture the magic of the Christmas season – who says you have to wait until December to indulge?” he said.
“We know our customers love eating our festive delights in the months leading up to Christmas and last year we sold more than 50 per cent of our fruit mince pies before December.
“Whether you’re enjoying them on a chilly night on the couch or serving them at a family gathering, our Christmas fruit mince pies are sure to bring joy to any celebration, and with fun twists alongside beloved classics, there’s something for everyone this winter.”

Customers can choose between three varieties – Coles Christmas Star Top Fruit Mince Pies, Coles Christmas Apple & Rhubarb Pies and Coles Christmas Lattice Fruit Mince Pies.
Coles Christmas Star Top Fruit Mince Pies come in a pack of six.
They are made with 44 percent spiced rum fruit mince and wrapped in buttery shortcrust pastry, citrus peel and spices and cost $6.00.

Christmas recipes for hosts with the most
Coles Christmas Apple & Rhubarb Pies are made of sweet apple and tart rhubarb in shortcrust pastry, also selling for $6.00 for a pack of six.
Then there are traditional Coles Christmas Lattice Fruit Mince Pies in a pack of six for $4.50, made with 43.5 percent fruit mince filling in shortcrust pastry.

So far, it seems Christmas is safe from price increases.

The price of Coles’ Christmas mince pies range is on par with 2024 prices, and the supermarket tend to mark them down periodically, allowing customers to stock up.

Woolworths, Aldi and IGA are yet to launch their Christmas range for the year.
Christmas mince pies could be just the beginning of Coles’ early festive offering in 2025.
If they continue to follow the same plan as in 2024, customers will soon be able to enjoy a variety of Christmas puddings as well. We have been told by a source this will happen in August.
And not to stress anyone out even further, a reminder that there are 168 sleeps until Christmas… if the year so far is anything to go buy, we’re going to blink and then it will be here.
