I have a Camp Chef DXL SmokePro. It’s old (7-8 yrs is my guess). It is not producing any visible smoke any longer.
It smokes at start up but then burns clean/no smoke for the rest of the cooks. It is maintaining temps really well but no smoke and then it has little to no smoke flavor.
It has become a great outdoor oven. I have done a deep clean, checked the chimney/smoke stack for any blockage and I’m at a loss for what else I may be able to do to get it to smoke like it once did.
I have managed this in the meantime by adding a smoke tube, but I am hoping someone here may have some ideas of what else may work.
I noticed yesterday when smoking (product of smoke tube not the Camp Chef) that not much is going out the stack but rather leaking out the lid, so I wonder if it could be an airflow issue.
Help!

What temps are you cooking at?
Have you tried different pellets ? Possible need to put gasket around the door to combat smoke escaping from the lid.
Set the temperature to 250 and watch it cycle between smokey and not smokey. If you set it at a high temperature like 350 or above, it will continuously feed pellets which burn with a flame and not produce visible smoke.
It’s unplugged. They work better plugged in.
Try new pellets
I had a similar issue. I replaced the internal RTD probe and it started working correctly again.

Also make sure the vent going to the pipe is clean.
If something went snafu on the controller. It’ll still hold temp, but it won’t make smoke. Camp Chef has had good customer service for me over the years. So I’d definitely give them a call.
Buy something better
The physics don’t make sense. Wood -> fire -> smoke.
I’ve used almost every blend that Bear Mountain makes and I still get smoke at high temps but at 225, I get lots of smoke.
Does your meat still have a smoke ring?
That’s odd, if there is nothing blocking the stack then it makes no sense why it would come out the lid. Is there even a hint of thin blue smoke during normal operation at 225?
I have this exact smoker, exact same issue.
I have been using a smoke tube for the past 2yrs. Nice to have but kind of a bummer.
I replaced the controller with an aftermarket, PID from Amazon for about 40$.
It works better than the original and uses less pellets due to the PID. But still, no smoke unless i set to 180. Frustrating
