Can anyone tell me why my cucumbers look this way? Very thick at the top and weirdly skinny down at the bottom? I try to water them like every other day or something like that. It’s been pretty hot. Zone 7b

I have one that looks identical lol, but the rest are fine.

Pick that now! If it goes to seed (yellows) it tells the vine “I’m done now. Time to die.” The odd shape is likely from incomplete pollination. Starting tomorrow, I’m going to pollinate them myself with a q tip. I’ve had 2 bad summers with cukes. I hope to win this year. Weekly sprays with copper, but we’ve had so much rain i fear Downy Mildew again. Wishing you well. Pick that and use a salt shaker right then and there. Enjoy!

We’ve been getting such random rain that almost all of mine are like this.

I’ve had 1 straight cucumber and the rest have had curves. Taste the same, just pull that one before it gets too yellow. My gf is hand pollinating them current so I guess we’ll have some results in a few weeks

its from uneven watering, but its still good 🙂

I only care if they are nice looking if I’m giving them away. If they are going in my fridge it doesn’t matter what they look like. As long as they are ripe, they all taste good!

I’ve been staring at one growing like this for 2 days too now. Not the worst, I have some that look like springs all coiled up.

I love the weird shapes. Just pick in time or not!

I’m also in 7b and having the same problem. My friends keep asking me how I’m getting round cucumbers, it’s not intentional lol.

Jesus h Christ, at first I thought the leaf it was in front of was part of the cuke, and I was horrified by how chill everyone was being about this abomination.
Anyway. Pollination. People use qtips to manually pollinate if their local pollinators aren’t getting it done. I actually just pick a male flower off, rip the petals off, and rub the stamens into the female flowers very gently. Harder with cukes than with squash, because squash flowers are so much bigger, but still doable with a steady hand.

I got these for the past week-ish, I think it’s because of the heat wave we just had (also in the US south). Now that temps have cooled off a bit, my newer cukes look normal.
