I'm wondering if this Tapatio is just somehow bad, or if it's supposed to be the way it is.

I live in northern Europe where stores don't generally stock a huge selection of hot sauces. I have a shelf in my fridge dedicated to hot sauces, so I've got quite a few. Both ordered online specifically and found in stores.

I came across Tapatio and I've seen it a lot in both media and people talking about it. But there are small grainy bits in it? At least in mine? Like the very obvious sign of dehydrated/dried spices, but they haven't even rehydrated slightly?

Is that how the texture/mouth feel is supposed to be?

It’s a Jalisco style Mexican sauce similar to Cholula and Valentina. They’re made from dried chiles, that’s just the style.

I think ketchup may be a better speed for some people. That is a classic.
