I purchased a GrillaGrills Silverbac in 2023. I'm having problems with the grill going way above the set temperature. At first the RTD probe was just reading the internal temp hotter than what my Thermo Works probe was reading but I worked around this by just setting the grill to a lower temp to compensate. It's been working fine for the most part. I've been using Costco and Traeger pellets in the grill.

Most recently I was using Traeger pellets and set the grill at 180, my video shows Thermo Works probe read the grill temp at 290 and the Silverbac read the temp at 270. At one point, I came out and saw that the temp was reading over 300. I reached out to GrillaGrills customer support and they are suggesting that the Traeger pellets that I'm using are the cause. My issue with this is that even if the Traeger pellets are causing it to burn hotter, why isn't the grill doing something more to moderate the temperature better. I can understand if there's a variation of 20 or so degrees but to miss it by over 100 seems unacceptable.

Would the Traeger Pellets I'm using really be causing this problem?

I’d start by vacuuming out all the ash and atleast cleaning the rtd probe. The over shoot could be alot of things those two things would fix alot of them.
