MUSKEGON, MI – The Hearthstone Bistro has been offering award-winning cuisine along the lakeshore since 1975.

Frank and Gina Lister opened the long-running Muskegon restaurant at 3350 Glade St. over four decades ago before selling it to fellow local Ben Soyars of Norton Shores in 2017.

Ever since, Soyars has kept the European-American fusion menu the same, but has taken greater advantage of farm-to-table ingredients.

“It’s very obvious why it’s had so much success,” he said. “There are a lot of familiar faces every time we go in. It’s built a good name for itself.”

The attention to detail is evident in the featured gourmet soups, hearty salads, sandwiches, seafood, pasta, steak, spiced chicken breast, braised ribs and more.

A current trending dish is the truffle parmesan calabrese for $15. It comes with Yukon gold potatoes, white truffle oil, Nueske’s bacon, parmesan and garlic aioli.

Another popular starter is the oven-roasted mussels dish for $19. It features a fresh fennel chardonnay broth, shallots, garlic, tomatoes, and focaccia bread for “mopping.”

The menu’s star entree is a panko-encrusted Lake Michigan-caught whitefish with stone-ground mustard cream, Yukon potato puree and sweet corn succotash. A small plate is $29.50, and a full plate is $33.50.

What’s a delicious dinner without dessert? The Hearthstone Bistro offers seven in-house selections made by its pastry chef, including the decadent dark chocolate pie.

For $9.50, the treat comes with a chocolate almond crust and coconut chocolate ganache.

Those 21 and over can finish the three-course meal with featured cocktails, wine and beer, like an espresso martini for $13.

The drink combines Ketel One Vodka, Grind espresso rum, simple syrup, espresso, and is garnished with coffee beans.

Hearthstone Bistro’s hours of operation are from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
