Did I make a poor decision with this purchase?

I don’t know. Let us know! Typically tawny is ready to drink when it is released so this is a long time beyond that but who knows!

I like the 30 year. It’sa good balance and the 40 year isn’t that much better

Bottled 46 years ago. Normaly tawnys hold up to 7 years after bottling.
Can still be fun to drink but not what it was intended

Dunno. The test is having some with a piece of tiramisu.

Tawny doesn’t age as well but it shouldn’t be bad, just not at it’s best. I’m a big fan of a tawny.

    No.

If this has been well stored, I think you will be very pleasantly surprised.

(I used to be the fortified person at an auction house)

Get a can of lemon Le Croix, pour over ice and finish it with a bit of port like it’s Coca Cola Syrup and have a really nice cocktail.

Well, I don’t think you got ripped off for price because that seems to be about the market price for that bottle.

Tawny port generally doesn’t improve in the bottle, but doesn’t generally degrade, either, so if your expectations were that it would have improved with age like a vintage port does, then you were likely to be somewhat disappointed.
