I have no idea who this dude is but I gotta respect Birdie’s for ripping him to filth.

I don’t know who the reviewer is but people should have a freedom to express their views. What’s wrong with rating Birdie’s a 7.3/10? FWIW, I kinda agree, Birdie’s food is not as good as it’s hyped up to be.

  2. erinmonday

I agree with this rating. Very hyped restaurant due to the lines out front which is very sneaky of them. Portions were small, flavors, meh.

I’ve never thought more of a business because of a retort like this. For someone they say doesn’t have a clue they’re awfully sensitive about this nobody not loving their food. Especially since he posted on his own and wasn’t trying to disparage the business on their pages. I wasn’t a fan of theirs anyway but unlike their food this does put a bad taste in my mouth.

Yikes this is a really bad look for Birdie’s, they should have just brushed this off instead of having a mini tantrum.

I dislike food influencers as much as the next guy but this dude gave them a 7, it’s not like he wrote a hit piece against them. Pretty immature response.

Goodworks austin actually supports the community just throwin that out there…

  6. A business acting like this is so cringy. Who cares what some critic said? Be professional.

  7. illegal_deagle

I hate food influencers as much as the next guy. In fact I can almost guarantee you I hate them more, and I’ve verbally fucked up more than a few. But this was a fair and balanced review and Birdie’s decided to attack him personally because of his old trading job?

Horrible look from Birdie’s which is hilarious because they’re essentially a PR firm that happens to serve a little food. They are absolute psychos about having their name in every publication possible and now they’ve Streisanded themselves into highlighting a lackluster review.

  8. greasyyum

Lol birdies deleted it. But the internet never forgets

  9. AdVarious5007

Bad look for them imo, especially after all the publicity they’ve gotten recently

  10. frontporchbeak

Birdie’s now deleted their story lol

  11. limecakes

Thats so unprofessional. Theres no need to belittle anyone’s career … just do better

  12. Brave_Ice_3025

Birdies getting mad lmao. Act like you’ve won some awards

  13. L0WERCASES

Embarrassing for Birdies. The funny thing is I think the reviewer was actually being nice. Birdies new menu and format sucks.

  14. Eastern-Ascent

Wow, wasn’t particularly impressed by Birdies and their prices in the first place but this is such a bad look.

  15. hungrylonghorn

What’s worse is I gave them a 7.3/10 WHICH MEANS GOOD, LEANS GREAT. 7 = GOOD, 8 = GREAT. Like.. what?!

    EDIT: for those who asked- 5 = okay, 6 = decent, 7 = good, 8 = great, 9 = amazing, 10 = perfect

  16. As Chef Terry says near the end of season 3 of The Bear, ”people don’t remember the food, It’s the people that they remember”. I’ll remember how Birdies treats someone who as The Dude would say, “it’s just his (your) opinion man”.

  17. Defiant_Web_8899

Honestly this is a bad look on Birdie’s part. I’ve also always thought they were pretty mediocre. So I actually concur with the food influencer’s opinion.

Jesus grow some thicker skin. People have freedom to say whatever they want.

  18. Maximus77x

This is bringing more attention to it than if he had just left his (actually pretty normal?) review.

  19. snappy033

The guy isn’t exactly claiming to be the food critic for the New York Times. He’s a finance guy who reviews food. He doesn’t need “years to hone his craft”. He recently reviewed the HEB summer limited edition bags of chips lol. Don’t even think fancy food critics are trained French chefs or anything. I think they were trying in vain to get people raging and on their side.

As a business with an immensely talented staff who work hard to make something for people to enjoy, and regularly sees their efforts get poo’d on by someone with little knowledge about that thing, and has a strong desire to personally reply to every uninformed opinion with why they’re objectively wrong, but doesn’t because it’s obviously in the best interest of the business to just ignore the noise….

I always get a little pleasure seeing another business snap.

  21. wakaOH05

Damn is Outer Heaven running Birdie’s instagram now?

  22. cleared_my_cache

I like James Beard award-winning restaurants that I can afford. I think Austin missed that memo.

  23. EloeOmoe

As a Birdies fan, I think they’ve gone down hill since the prix fixe menu.

  24. mmuhammad_wangg

Birdies went and deleted all the owner’s combative responses to people’s reviews on Google also hahahaha the PR team certainly is efficient

  25. Crazy to think we don’t know if food is good or not unless we are trained chefs.
As a 30 year old you’ve eaten ~33,000 meals, I’d say that’s plenty of experience lol

  26. IlllllIIIIIIIIIlllll

Uh, what? Dude gives his honest opinion about a restaurant’s food (while praising the drinks) and they bash him like a fragile child? The only party out of line here is the restaurant.

It’s actually refreshing to see some influencers give honest feedback rather than constantly glazing every place they attend in exchange for free shit from the restaurant.
