Just tried some of the best pancakes in Brooklyn.. and I’m sorry but these were pretty underwhelming.
Maybe it was too much hype for what it was, but these pancakes were pretty subpar.
The style of the pancakes are my favorite. Crispy edges with a softer inside, but the taste was not good! It also had too much of “something” that I couldn’t keep eating too much of it.
Also, generally, pretty oily as well. Or I could taste the oil in the pancakes sort of.
Maybe it was an off day, but these pancakes were like 5.1 out of 10 for me. If you want some great pancakes, try a place called Little Flower Shop in Queens. Best pancakes I’ve had so far in NY. Open to more great pancake suggestions though.

At the end of the day, they’re pancakes, and everyone has their own idea on what makes a good pancake. This sub is full of people who like really basic stuff, and to those people, this might be it for them.

Off topic: There’s a food subreddit that has a rule against blurry, out of focus, or half eaten photos, and I sometimes wonder if foodnyc has the opposite. Can a burger photo truly be food porn if you haven’t taken at least 3 sloppy bites out of it? Could anything really whet the appetite more?
$18 pancakes but they look ethereal.
Can you compare little flower to chez ma tante? Are they crispy and dense?
Do what to your what??
Did they come like that? Or did you make it look like that?
What is that? Is it a pancake sandwich? Did it come cut up like that?
These were trash. Had it twice. Couldn’t believe how underwhelmed I was the first time so tried it again the second time I was like okay this is weird. Influencer hyped spot for sure and the demographic that goes, you can tell they didn’t have seasoning on their chicken growing up. Lol
Never been here, but every time I pass this place, my girlfriend inevitably makes a “shave my taint” joke and for that, this place rules.
I didn’t even know what this photo was but I could taste the grease and oil through my phone. It looks like a badly made Dutch baby. Hard pass.
Not listening to the opinion of anyone who makes their food look like that and then posts a pic to complain
Right nearby is 5 leaves and they have amazing pancakes!
Just tried the griddle cakes at Breakfast by Salt Cure and was also very underwhelmed. Maybe pancakes are just meant to made at home…
They use an obscene amount of butter in the batter and fry them in a ton of fat as well. They’re beyond decadent and better as a shared centerpiece than something to eat solo. And this is coming from a long distance runner who can eat A LOT.
just go to luluc next time
Agreed they were very underwhelming 🤷🏻♀️
I had the exact same experience. Meh.
🗑️ Clinton street is better
Luluc has always been my favorite, but I haven’t been there for a couple of years, so I can’t speak for their quality now.
How’s nobody mentioned Golden Diner? Worth the hype imo and I preferred the pancakes to Clinton
Vinegar Hill House is amazing
