If only just to go home early sometimes…

Every time I stare at the fire suppression latch and wonder about just pulling it.

Only time I’ve seen Ansel go off is when it got caught on this prep girls sleeve as she was walking by. Shit was chaos, I didn’t know what to do, head Chef went to the store for something we needed.. I walked through that shit to turn off all the gas not knowing it was automatically shut off. We ditched everything on the line, cleaned up, had an inspection from the fire Marshal who was a regular there, prepped the mise back up and we’re open an hour after it happened 😂

My cat just sticks her tail in the candle flame on accident and sets on fire briefly

One of my coworkers set it off right before service once. He was building the fire for wood fire grill, added too much cardboard and oil, walked away before it had fully caught, and the flame shot up super high and set off the ansel system. We lost a lot of prep and had to scramble like crazy to be ready for service that night.

I called the cops to my old restaurant by fucking with some buttons in the back that turned out to be a silent alarm. No idea why no one disconnected it.

  5. I just wanna know how much pressure it ACTUALLY takes…

    Fire alarms too…

Like I’m not GOING to do it, unless I’m in some sort of training and they’re asking for volunteers. Then I’ll fucking throw blows to get to do it.

“I’m pretty sure if I mixed these chemicals we’d have to evac the building… But I’d probably go to jail for that…. I could probably work in their kitchens…”

Ours went off at 10:00 on a Thursday night after an inspection earlier in the day. Dude was like, “I’ll be there Monday to clean it up.”

The bartender and I spent all night cleaning to get the kitchen ready for the weekend. Absolute nightmare. The fryers were the worst.

  8. Not fire suppression, but on a slow night when the bosses had everyone clean random pieces of equipment to keep busy, someone triggered the gas shut off valve. Closed 5-6 hours early because the guy to reset it wouldn’t come in until next day.

I wasn’t there that day, but now whenever I ask someone to clean stuff, I let them know which bits they should not be hitting.
