The 2003 vintage, marked by heat and drought, reveals the resilience and art of Biondi-Santi’s old vines and traditional winemaking techniques.
Thanks to their high elevation vineyards, older vines with deep root systems that better adapted to drought, this wine is very elegant despite the vintage.
The nose opens with dried cherries, leather, balsamic herbs, dried figs and a little touch of tobacco. To the palate it is surprisingly fresh, with refined tannins and a lingering finish of sour cherry and earthy minerality.
At first restrained, the wine required time in the glass to unfold and reveal its true character.

The freshness sounds classic Biondi Santi. It’s a personal fav winery of mine

Cool tasting, but I’d be disappointed that a €200+ bottle couldn’t break 90 points on my personal scale

Why not a 200 point scale then?

Frequently disappointing bottle to me, especially for the price.

I’m lucky enough to get the same bottle for $125 but it’s still not the best expression of Sangiovese I’ve tasted
