Second time here and it did not disappoint. Pro move is to order the Carolina Rice to be served with your choice of protein. Today we also asked for the corn bread to be served at the same time. Having something sweet and savory made it feel like Thanksgiving in May.

Waitress last time told us the hack move of ordering the cheesy mashed potatoes to come out at the same time as the stew. Then you add some potatoes to a tortilla before you put the stew on it. Insanely good.

They just put a lamb dish on the menu and it is amazing.

Remember when the ribeye was 99, then 129, but now 149 🙁

My wife and I went last week and got the $149 ribeye with bone marrow. Not your typical dry aged ribeye (anyone know what they do?). We loved it. Not something I would get because I want steak but it was a special occasion so price didn’t matter as much. Favorite dish though was the pork & green chili stew. Incredible. Convinced the table next to us to order it too. Loved it as well. (Sad the burger which we wanted as well is bar only – anyone try that?)

    This place is obscenely overrated.

Cornbread is bomb but just drowning in honey and butter. I love butter, I’m a fatass. But it’s too much.

    The tuna toast was great.

The burger was fine, hard to eat and the patty had no flavor for being a thick patty made of allegedly premium meat.

This place is pretentious as fuck and our server was wearing a Kanye West (the Nazi) t-shirt.

Definitely not returning. I’d rather get McDonald’s lol.

I visited for my birthday in March. It is overhyped/overpriced in my eyes for sure, with the way people talk about the place, I thought that I would experience something more unique.

They have 1-2 dishes that stand out, but the flavors aren’t particularly inspiring or new. The amount of salt used in most dishes was overwhelming for my group. We ordered the beef tartar, fried oysters, green chili, ribeye, red beans/rice, and cornbread.

I’m shocked that so many people enjoy the cornbread; the amount of butter and salt used on it made it hard to get more than 1-2 bites in, and the texture felt kind of mushy. The dish that stood out to me was the green chili. I’ve heard good things about the pork chop, but if its seasoning is as plain as the steak was, I will pass. The smoky flavor of the fire stands out and is nice, but other than that, I left feeling like if I splurged on some quality ingredients, I could achieve similar flavor profiles at home. They even have their recipe for their green chili online.

Overall it doesnt stand out enough for me to go back and the salt usage makes me feel like i’m crazy for not enjoying it.

What’s that on top of the cornbread? Looks like mashed potatoes. I can’t believe it’s not butter.

Damn it, now I want to go and get that sticky toffee pudding as well. I think about it often. The one at Whole Foods hits the spot, but the one from dunsmoor is the best in LA I think.
