This video features Bananas Foster Ice Cream Dessert, where you make your own Rum Caramel Sauce and set it on fire!
Dramatic sounding…we know… and it could be, if you don’t use caution when doing so! Heh heh….

But its great fun, its super easy and tastes amazing!
Its a perfect dinner party recipe, since it doesn’t take a lot of work, and your guests will enjoy watching the process!

You must try this if you love ice cream and yummy toppings like caramel, bananas, nuts (if you like to add them) butter, cinnamon and brown sugar!

We used Vanilla Bean Ice Cream that contrasts well with the bananas and caramel sauce, but you can use whatever you like!
The alcohol in the rum burns away so you are just left with a beautiful, spiced rum flavor.
Here’s the recipe below.

Please comment below if you made this dessert and how you made it your own!

thanks again for watching!

Bananas Foster

• Two bananas (firm or slightly green bananas so they hold up under the heat)
• ¼ cup of Brown sugar
• 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
• 3-4 tablespoons of butter
• ¼ to ½ cup of spiced rum
• Vanilla Ice cream.

Scoop vanilla ice cream into bowls and put in freezer so that they are hard and can stand up to the hot caramel and banana mixture.

Cut bananas into medallion rounds or split into quarters and set aside.

Cut butter into 4-6 chunks so that it melts evenly before it browns. Melt butter in a large enough pan that can accommodate all the ingredients.

Add brown sugar once butter has melted completely and stir w/ a spoon, spatula or whisk. As sugar melts, add vanilla extract and cinnamon.

Continue to stir ingredients until sugar has almost completely melted. Now add rum and light the alcohol w/ a match, wand lighter, or w/ the flame of the stove.

Caution: If you are using an open flame to make the Banana’s foster, turn off burner or take the pan off the burner before pouring the rum in, especially if you’re pouring directly from the bottle.
I recommend pouring from a separate bowl or measuring cup. The open flame may ignite the rum immediately.

Now place the pan back on the burner.. Be careful not to lose your eyebrows or hair from the flames.

Add bananas and let the rum alcohol burn off until the smell of alcohol is no longer present or flames have disappeared.

HINT: While alcohol is burning off, you can sprinkle cinnamon to create the spark effect for your guests if they’re watching you make this dessert!

Drizzle the caramel mixture over top and place bananas on the side of the ice cream.

Enjoy!

  1. Hey there! Welcome back to our Easy Slow Summer Recipes Series. This is the 4th video and features our Bananas Foster Ice Cream Dessert.
We hope you enjoy it and make this yummy recipe yourself. Just use caution with the open flame! Hubby got too close one time….
Finally got a clip of a cute hummingbird at the waterfall, enjoying his bath! They certainly are territorial! He told off several others that were waiting their turn.
I think he's a Ruby Throated variety but not too sure. If you know about Hummers, I'd appreciate the input. Please leave a comment below and as always, thanks for watching!
