Part of the equation is VALUE which is why things like Komodo Kamado is so low.

Since I am actually considering to go down this rabbit hole… you are considering the Weber Summit to be of Top Tier and a really good purchase?

I do not know much about this, hence my question. Just wondering since it’s not an actual Kamadostyled bbq and you seem to have a lot of those in the chart 🙂

Who among us has actually used all these grills?

As a very happy Weber Summit owner, this all seems correct 😁

  4. I have a Vision grill I got from Home Depot about 4 years ago. It’s a kamado style and has been amazing. I picked up the large one for $700 which was a great deal.

Is this considered an “off brand kamado?” If so, I can’t believe it’s put in the worst tier along side park grills 🤣

The humble park grill and the Weber kettle grill both hold a special place in my heart.

If part of the equation is value then the park grill should be higher up.

I’ve owned 2 primos. They are outstanding i miss them dearly

Hank Hill would not be happy with this list

Soooo, my 21″ offbrand(Action) Kamado is somehow worse than a park grill? I beg to differ.

I think the Akorn deserves better here. Add a 20 dollar gasket and this thing works like a champ

Pretty damn accurate. The only thing I’d change is the hasty bake. Move that to S and it’s the perfect list.

Glad to see others confused by the kamado rankings as well. I have a Vision, and it is great and wouldn’t trade it for probably 90% of this list.

I got a Akorn jr when our house was being built. It was just me and my wife. Just needed something to grill on. HD had it on sale for 149$. Little thing is a monster. I cook pizza on steel. It hits 700 degrees pretty easy and holds temp well for a while. Feel like I overpaid 1k for the KJ I have tbh. Could have easily spent 650 for the larger version and been happy.

Recently picked up an Akorn…no complaints. Holds heat well, nice large surface, easy ash disposal. I can’t imagine paying 4-5x the cost, like do the others grill for you?

Terrible disrespect to the vision grill. I’ve had one for 8 years and it’s been an excellent purchase. Half the price of the BGE and cooks exactly the same.

As a Chargriller owner I have heavy bias anger at how low it is on your heavy bias ranking!

I have had an Akorn for over 12 years. It was originally called Kamado Kooker. I bought it on sale off Amazon for $250. I may be wrong, but I think BGE was going for around $750 back then for something comparable in size. Even though it is made of metal, it still just as good as when it was first made, although its a little dingy from all the smoke. Keep it covered and out of the rain and it will last. Plus it looks like Char Griller sells almost any party that I might need to replace. Once you learn how to control the temp, it is solid. If I setup my charcoal and vents correctly, I can usually maintain 250 degrees for 12 hours or so without using hardly any charcoal.

Edit: Don’t let someone’s justification for pay over $1,000 make you think you can’t cook great food without spending a lot of money.

How is the summit better than the akorn, especially considering value? It’s so much more expensive

I’ve been tempted to get a park grill for my house. That and a fire ring like you see in National Parks would complete the set.
