heya! just as the title says I’m a first time maker of sourdough and I would say I’m fairly chuffed!

I started my starter while off work for burnout so it’s really been a labour of love that I was hoping would pay off … and it did!

I know there’s still much to improve as it’s a bit doughy and I had an air pocket, but I’m very proud to say my first loaf looks pretty good!

I used 100g starter (I’m around 10 days into my starter), 375g warm water, 12g salt and ~550g Wessex Mill strong white bread flour.

I folded it around 3 times, proved it for around 6 hours (it’s very warm in the U.K. right now) and then left it in the fridge for around 18 hours.

I don’t have a Dutch oven so just steamed for 30 mins and then left it in the oven by itself for 10 mins.

Me, my partner and his mum have tried it and it’s absolutely delicious – I can’t wait to have it as toast ahaha!

  1. You should definitely be proud! Don’t eat it all at once like I do

Lol what the fuck happened here. Crumb looks awesome, nice work for loaf 1, mine were miles worse and more like frisbees

That’s some bread right there. Nothing tastes like your first^edible loaf

Awesome job! Next time score it so that air can escape and give you a nice ear instead of an air pocket.
