In 2022, The Hudson Rose took over the former Franklin Steakhouse space at 238 Franklin Avenue in Nutley. After two years of renovations, the restaurant, part of GAC Hospitality, opened in August 2024. For almost a full year, the eatery has served the Nutley foodie community with a menu featuring elevated American cuisine and expertly crafted cocktails, all served in a sleek and sophisticated space. The team behind The Hudson Rose recently announced that it will close on July 26th, 2025, and reopen later this summer under a new concept. The Hudson Rose’s Closure
The Hudson Rose officially opened its doors on August 2nd, 2024. On July 15th, 2025, almost a full year since its arrival in Nutley, The Hudson Rose took to social media to announce its upcoming closure and rebrand.
“After a memorable run serving the Nutley community with craft cocktails, crave-worthy dishes, and plenty of good times, The Hudson Rose, part of GAC Hospitality, will be closing its doors in its current form on Saturday, July 26th to make room for something fresh, exciting, and just a little bit ‘saucy,’” the team shared via a press release.

GAC Hospitality plans to reveal a new concept to the Franklin Avenue locale later this summer. “Chef Andrew Riccatelli and General Manager Eric Bender have been working behind the scenes on fresh ideas for months, and they’re thrilled to unveil [them] soon.”
For now, The Harlow Room, The Hudson Rose’s premier private event space, which holds around 200 people and occasionally hosts weddings, rehearsal dinners, sweet sixteens, Bar Mitzvahs, corporate events, PTO meetings, and more, will remain open “in its current form.”
Details on what’s coming are promised to be released soon. The Montclair Girl has been in communication with the GAC Hospitality team and will update this post with more information as soon as it is announced.
About The Hudson Rose
The owners of The Hudson Rose, Brian Neiman and his father-in-law, Bruce Fischer of GAC Hospitality, took over the 4,000-square-foot-per-floor property in 2022. The purchase of The Hudson Rose came before GAC opened its first restaurant, Pop’s Corner in Point Pleasant, in July 2023.
“My father-in-law and I, we both always wanted to own a restaurant,” Brian previously shared with MG. “I always had a passion to do this. My father was a chef, so we just grew up cooking, grew up loving food, and always talking about it…I always loved that world, and something I always said, if I ever got the opportunity, I wanted to do that.”

Until July 26th, restaurant-goers are encouraged to dine at The Hudson Rose. On the menu, guests will find fresh fish, dry-aged steaks, salads, burgers, chicken dishes, and more. The MG team recommends the Truffle Cacio e Pepe, made with buccatini, Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, and black truffle.

The style looks simple + modern with a blue statement wall inside. Some options are Chicken Valdostana (topped with smoked prosciutto, fontina cheese in a marsala wine sauce), + Gnocchi’s Casa Nostra (wild mushrooms, asparagus, pancetta cooked in a white creamy brandy sauce).

Divina Ristorante is conveniently located on Bloomfield Avenue across the street from Shop Rite Wines + Spirits. This BYOB establishment makes it easy for diners. Diners can grab a bottle of white to split with friends and try the linguini with scallops + broccoli, or a bottle of red and taste dishes like veal with wild mushrooms or Chicken Mascotta (with shitake mushrooms, artichokes, sundried tomatoes in marsala wine).

If looking for something a little different than the original cheese pie, make sure to stop by Forte Pizzeria + Ristorante. Forte has a slightly upscale pizzeria-style seating by the main counter. To the left upstairs, there is a dining room. The space also has a semi-formal room for private parties. Sections of the store are divided into sandwiches + cold dishes, hot dishes, + a section of rotating dishes. There are also Italian delicacies for sale such as fresh mozzarella, pasta, + olive oils. MG recommends asking about the Chicken Parm Garlic Knot — it’s a sandwich that’s out of this world with chicken parmigiana on the inside + a garlic knot bun.
I want to feel like I’ve been transported to Italy. | Il Vecchio Cafe | 234 Bloomfield Avenue
Il Vecchio Cafe is located in Calandra’s Italian Village on Bloomfield Avenue. The restaurant features dark, tiled floors with dark dining chairs to match. Large windows surround the dining space with long, dramatic curtains. The space also has a pizza oven behind a rustic stone counter. The best day to visit \ for the full “Made-in-Italy experience” is Tuesday because it’s Pasta Night. If diners can’t make up their minds, pasta flights are available for a choice of three different pastas or three different versions of gnocchi. For those who are not pasta lovers, try the Sole Oreganata (topped with seasoned bread crumbs in a lemon white wine sauce, served with with chef’s starch and vegetables), or the Pollo Ortolano (breaded chicken cutlet over tomato bruschetta, + red onions topped with baby arugula and balsamic glaze).

La Famiglia Ristorante is located on Bloomfield Avenue and attracts diners with its warm string lights outside. Inside the space, the decor has warm colors walls with a textured pattern. Russillo Ristorante is located on Bloomfield Avenue + has dinner options for all. Classic dishes include seafood risotto (saffron-infused risotto with diced salmon, shrimp, scallops, asparagus, and cherry tomatoes), stuffed artichoke, + Scaffetuni Enzo (large imported rigatoni, in a fresh sausage bolognese sauce with fresh spinach). Sometimes, traditional options are all too familiar, and the desire to try something new is strong. Stephanie’s Italian Restaurant is located on Bloomfield Avenue, near the three-way intersection of Bloomfield Avenue + Roseland Avenue. From the entrance’s arch, this establishment screams cozy vibes. Inside, the restaurant has lower ceilings, warm lighting, and framed paintings that could remind anyone of Nonna’s living room. Outside seating feels like sitting in someone’s quaint backyard complete with a water fountain, a wooden outdoor frame, + an abundant amount of florals.
