No-Cook Berry Herb Compote
A fresh, tangy-sweet compote with herbs and shallots
Prep Time: 10 minutes Total Time: 10 minutes Yield: Approximately 1 1/2 – 2 cups
Ingredients:
2 cups fresh mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, chopped strawberries, etc.)
1 small shallot, finely minced
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar (or red wine vinegar)
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped
1 tablespoon fresh mint, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for balance)
Salt & freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
In a medium bowl, gently mix the berries, minced shallot, vinegar, and olive oil.
Stir in the chopped basil and mint.
Add honey if desired, then season to taste with salt and pepper.
Let sit for 5–10 minutes to allow flavors to meld. Serve immediately or chill for later.
Serving Suggestions:
Spoon over grilled chicken, salmon, or pork.
Serve alongside burrata, goat cheese, or brie.
Try as a fresh relish on crostini or flatbread.
