Neighbor said to harvest as much as I could. I got these and some amazing jalapeño peppers. Not familiar with scotch bonnets(?). Are these to old to use?

Those look more like habaneros rather than scotch bonnets in my opinion, and if anything they could use a little *more* ripening, but they’ll be tasty.

They are Habs by the looks and they are supposed to go orange when ripe. So if anything not ripe enough but still good.

These are habaneros. They actually look not quite ripe. They’ll be plenty good. Quite a bit hotter than the jalapenos you got.

Awesome. I was curious because there are quite a few and most of them look like this in color, but a lot have shriveled into nothing/rotted. I thought that they were more vibrant the other day, but we had two days of solid sunshine with excessive thunderstorms in the evening. I wasn’t sure if they were dying or not because like, 2 days ago maybe?, they looked a lot more vibrant from my back yard. Would it be worth keeping an eye on them? Neighbor is out of town and said I can harvest whatever any time I feel like it.

They look pretty good, maybe the one on the lower right may have some sun scald on the shoulders

Thank you all for the insight. I will keep an eye on them and hope that they ripen a bit more. The sun has been harsh here but the peppers smell amazing. Does anyone have any recommendations for what to do with them? Again, I have very little experience outside of jalapeño peppers, which I have grown in the past and constantly use for bacon wrapped poppers. I have had habanero peppers from friends in the past, and every time I just ate them raw, and had a bad time. Any recipes for something quick?

They love fine to me, I’m kind of curious why they are more yellow than orange.
