Just wanted to shout out Times Square Diner in North York, located just east of Sheppard West Station on Wilson Heights Blvd.
A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch. We both had burgers, and as a chef myself, I can honestly say it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. No exaggeration. Super juicy, made in-house, and packed with flavour.
I went back today and got to meet the owner, Peter, absolute legend. Nicest guy ever, and you can tell he lives and breathes the food he makes. We ended up chatting for a while about his journey as a chef and the passion behind the restaurant.
The whole place has this retro, vintage diner vibe that’s so authentic, it actually gets used as a film set pretty often. It’s a time capsule in the best way possible.
Portions are huge (even the side of onion rings was stacked), prices are more than fair. It's a family-owned spot with a massive menu, and Peter mentioned that a Top Chef Canada winner is a regular who swears by their peameal bacon.
I’ve only tried the burger so far, but I’m 100% going back to explore the menu. If you're in the area, or even if you're not, go support this place. It deserves way more love.
