    I like kimchi.

When I would visit Samsung in Dongtan, I’d always go eat at this little mandu place at least once per trip and get a bowl of galbi tang and a dozen kimchi dumplings. A few grandmas ran the place and you could see them roll the dumplings.

I went back to Dongtan last year for the first time since 2020 and was sad to see they were gone, replaced by a (disappointing) dwaeji gukbap place.

I have been to an awesome mandu place in Busan that was opened by North Korean refugees after the war, and serves some North Korean style dishes. We always get two types of mandu and naengmyeon. Fantastic place and fantastic mandu.

There are crunchy deep-fried spicy pork mandu at a Korean chain called Kim Seonsaeng(Teacher Kim’s). I can’t get enough of them. I eat at one near Jamsilsaenae quite often but there are a lot of locations-you can just search NAVER to find one 🙂

The kind in my mouth, whichever that may be at the time. Bless the hands that make them.

Some mandu shops have curry ones that are good. The frozen DongWon shrimp dimsum style ones from the supermarket are what I find myself eating the most

But try dipping the meat dumplings in a sauce made with soy sauce, vinegar, and red pepper powder. You’ll enjoy it even more!

홍진경’s “the mandoo”, specifically the round meat ones. It was mainly the reason I gained so much weight in the army haha

Pork and vegetable. By far the tastiest combo.

Kimchi only when I crave it. It overpowers the meat.

Homemade kimchi mandoo from my maternal grandma. Big and filled with love.

Deep fried. Kimchi, meat, meat and veg, deep fry it and it gets better!
