Updated February 2025! This rapidly growing American restaurant chain actually started in Clarksville, Indiana. But today, there are Texas Roadhouse locations in 49 U.S. states, including Texas (sorry Hawaii!). Their selection is a bit dairy heavy, but there are still some great dairy-free choices on the menu and with our custom order guidance. Plus, they are well known for great service toward special diet guests, often accommodating food allergies, gluten-free needs, and even vegan requests.

Texas Roadhouse Dairy-Free Menu Guide with Allergen Notes & Vegan Options

This menu guide includes dairy-free menu options first, followed by custom order components. Be aware of special order requirements in parentheses () next to the menu items, and see the Heads Up notes to help fill in the blanks. Texas Roadhouse does state their menu is “global,” so the following should be suitable for U.S. and international locations. But always verify your order meets your dietary needs. There can be differences in locations.

Other Allergen & Dietary Notes: All of the dairy-free menu items are also made without egg, peanut, tree nuts, and wheat, unless otherwise clear in the name or noted. Texas Roadhouse does offer a “gluten friendly” menu for gluten-free guests. Most of their main menu is listed as containing soy due to the prevalence of soy oil in their kitchens. For vegan options, see the Vegan Menu Guide at the bottom of this post.

Fryer & Grill Note: As with any kitchen, potential cross-contamination with allergens is always a risk. They do not specifically note shared fryers or a shared grill, but we assume they do use shared equipment with items that contain milk. Always alert the staff if you need allergen precautions.

Just for Starters

Deviled Eggs (limited availability)
Killer Ribs (no steak fries)

Heads Up! The Texas Roadhouse Chili actually contains milk in the base recipe, not just the cheese topping. The Boneless Wings, Cactus Blossom, and Fried Pickles also contain dairy. Though you could order the Grilled Shrimp without butter, the bread it is served on does contain milk.

Dairy-Free Salad Dressings: Honey French Dressing, Honey Lime Sauce, Honey Mustard Dressing (contains egg), Italian Dressing, Oil & Vinegar, Thousand Island Dressing (contains egg)

Heads Up! The grilled chicken, salmon, and steak are cooked with butter. Several salads can be easily custom ordered without dairy if your location can cook the protein in a separate pan without butter.

I love Texas Road House in Oceanside Ca they are very friendly for ppl with food allergies.

January 22, 2025

Been going to Oceanside ca Texas Road House for many yrs with my husband as a note I ask for bread without butter and I love dipping it in the BBQ sauce one of my favorites. I enjoy getting the half rack because so much food and sharing a couple slices of the ribs with my husband because he orders a side salad with a pork chop the salad comes with pork chop or he likes the green beans and mash potatoes and gravy. I get the steak fries in a basket and also sweet potato with only marshmellow and ask them to torch it reminds me of a campfire:) days so yummy give it a try. I also get their famous sweatened Arnold Palmor so good. If you have any room left you can share some cake or ice cream and get some of the rolls to go home for breakfast with jam and take a bag of peanuts! Great article, heed the warning!

December 17, 2024

Please follow their disclaimer and double check how your location does things before you eat. My location coats their sweet potatoes in bacon grease to crisp them up, and I only found out because I mentioned to the waitress that I am also allergic to pork. This article was super helpful because I had a quick reference of other sides to choose from that were most likely safe. It was great to not have to ask a bunch of questions about the whole menu.

As someone with a newly diagnosed food sensitivity to dairy and egg, this was a very helpful source as to what I can and cannot eat.
