Beets aren't the lowest calorie veggie but they are one of the best sources of nitrates to produce nitric oxide. Personally, I find beats delicious on solids and things like that, but they are a pain to cut up and cook. I recently discovered that you can just drain a can of sliced beets, throw it in the air fryer and get it to cook close to a beet chip in texture. I've been really enjoying them as a side to turkey burgers with low carb buns and fat free American cheese! I have to eat a ridiculous amount of salt for POTS so this is a solid option for me – others might want to swap some condiments and pickles for fresh lettuce and tomato.
I run them at 415 for 15-20 minutes – around 20 minutes is crispy territory when the sugar starts to caramelize slightly.
