Hi there. I’m Jennifer from my-col-kitchen.com. Today, we are going to be making some homemade sausage gravy. So, we’re going to take one pound of breakfast sausage or just your favorite sausage. I often have a hard time finding sausage, breakfast sausage at my local grocery store. So, I use this all natural sage sausage, but whatever is your favorite sausage, you could use that or make it from scratch on your own. We need to put that in a hot skillet and get that crumbled up nicely and cooked. You’re going to want to use a wide and taller pan because we’re going to do the gravy right in that same pan. I will link one in the description below that I love to use. Make sure you guys hit that subscribe button so you don’t miss out on any new recipes that I post. I love posting from scratch recipes that you can make in your home instead of buying the ingredients from the store that are full of preservatives. So, hit that subscribe button so you don’t miss out. The sausage can really make or break this gravy. So, make sure you get a good sausage, a good quality one, and also a good tasting one that you and your family love. This sausage gravy is perfect for biscuits and gravy. You could also just put it on top of some scrambled eggs or some hash browns, some uh just some diced potatoes. Um, honestly, it’s the perfect accompaniment to a breakfast. It’s got some great protein and some good carbs, so it’s just it is delicious. It’s homemade. You don’t have to use any packets. I hope you guys love it as much as I do. You want to make sure that sausage is browned nicely on the outside. Just that little extra caramelization will add so much flavor. Once that sausage is browned to your liking. Don’t drain the fat. We’re just going to add two tablespoon of allpurpose flour to it. I love to use the organic allpurpose flour. We’re going to let that flour cook in there for a minute or two just to let it absorb um into that meat. And this is what’s going to thicken that gravy. You’re going to want to stir that flour and sausage around so that that flour doesn’t burn. It’s okay if there’s some brown bits on the bottom of your pan because once we add that liquid, we’re going to scrape those brown bits. They’ll come right off and then add a ton of flavor to that gravy. After we feel like that flour is cooked enough incorporated into that sausage, we’re then going to slowly add our two cups of whole milk. I would suggest whole milk for this as it is a better fat content for that gravy and just has a better consistency. You want to give that a good stir, scraping up those brown bits at the bottom of the pan. After you’ve given it a good stir, then we’re going to add our salt and our pepper. So, we’re going to do one teaspoon salt and then a/ teaspoon of pepper. Then you want to make sure you stir that all together. Your heat is on low. And then you just periodically keep stirring that. You don’t want that milk to burn or scald. So you’re just going to keep stirring it so that it thickens. It’ll take about 5ish minutes to get that done. And once that gravy is thickened to your liking, so it coats the back of a spoon pretty nicely, then you’re all ready to eat it. Like I said, you can serve it over biscuits for biscuits and gravy. I made some of my homemade sourdough biscuits this morning so that way we could have some biscuits and gravy together. But you’re just going to take that gravy and you’re going to put it over your biscuits and enjoy. Thank you guys so much for watching and making some homemade sausage gravy with me. I love making from scratch recipes. And if you love these recipes, please make sure you hit that subscribe button, give it a like, give it a thumbs up, hit that bell so you never miss a recipe.
