Saw these at a Korean department store in Seoul. Thinking of bringing some back home,anyone know how long they last in the fridge ?

    Back home to where? Do you live there? They last a while; they just ferment and taste more sour as time goes on, so as long as you don’t see visible mold or takes really funky, you can eat it.

    If I spent any time in South Korea I think I would bankrupt myself on perilla leaf kimchi alone.

    The answer is basically ‘yes’. As long as they don’t mold, they’ll basically just keep getting stronger and funkier.

    Pro tip, don’t buy in the departmental store. Buy from one of the traditional markets in Seoul. The ahjummas there will wrap it up so good that it wouldn’t split in your luggage on the flight home.

    It will be cheaper than the departmental store as well.

    Only 1 or 2 are kimchi, the rest are side dishes. Some would last a couple of days, some will last 1-2 months depending how well you store it.

  6. It will survive the plane trip unrefrigerated. You’re supposed to let it out when ripening them anyway so you can get a fresh one and pack it airtight and you’ll be just fine.

    If you are slow shipping then you might wanna consider packing some ice depending on how slow the process is. Either way you’ll be fine. Treat it the same way you would ship a pickle or sauerkraut.

    From my experience 1 day shorter than I need them too.. lol

    great now I want some pickled garlic stems… lol 🙂
