That’s some quality fish! What’s the price?

  2. fish looks great, but what about the rice? doesn’t look like sushi rice at all, almost like a paste

Now that’s what I call fresh and tasty!

  4. Just moved to where there’s no longer a fresh market or fresh market sushi and it’s been rough. Their poke bowls smacked so hard

Pretty much all TFM’s prepared foods slap, IMO. I travel from the West Coast to a TFM market and prefer to load up to eat in the hotel instead of dining out.

Ya that rice doesn’t make it anywhere near the best

It’s all about the rice for me. If it’s not right everything else is wrong.

Mitsuwa, a Japanese shop with locations in the U.S., has the best grocery store sushi

  9. All the Fry’s in Phoenix that have sushi stations have dedicated sushi chefs. I figured out which one near me is my fave and their stuff looks like a lot like this.

they make the worst onigiri ever though. it has like a g-string for its seaweed.

A lot of you apparently don’t live near a Japanese market.

Just wait til you go to a Mitsuwa Market

  12. I have to believe something like uwajimaya is better but that may not count. This looks good for sure though.

The rice is overcooked. For sushi, top quality fish is important of course, but the RICE is the true star of the show.

I’m sorry you haven’t had excellent grocery store sushi. I’ve been to multiple that look better than that (but also multiple that look worse than that).

Try getting some from a higher quality asian grocery store, some time. Two people mentioned Mitsuwa which absolutely is amazing, but there’s also Uwajimaya, too.
