3 tsp Water – Free

Slurry:
2 tsp Cornstarch – $0.08
240 ml Water – Free
Sauce:

Cheap, healthy, budget-friendly meal 300 g (10.5 oz) chicken breast Cut the chicken into thin strips Marinate with… 2 tsp soy sauce (10 ml) 1 tsp dark soy sauce (5 ml) 1 tsp rice vinegar (5 ml) 1/4 tsp white pepper 1/4 tsp sugar 2 tsp cornstarch (10 ml volume) 3 tsp water (15ml) Mix everything up evenly 1 tsp (5 ml) sesame oil Mix well and let it marinate for 20 minutes Mix 1 cup (240 ml) cold water 3 tsp cornstarch Mix well Use this slurry to thicken the sauce later Mix 2 tsp soy sauce 1 tsp dark soy sauce 3 tsp water (15ml) 1/2 tsp sugar Mix well Use this sauce in the pan over the chicken later 300 g (10.5 oz) cabbage Cut the cabbage into 1-inch thick slices Separate the leaves for easy stir-frying later 1 red bell pepper Cut into strips 2 stalks of green onion Cut into 2-inch sections Keep white and green parts separate 4 cloves of garlic Finely mince the garlic 3 slices of ginger Finely mince the ginger Now we are ready to cook 3 tsp olive oil to a hot pan over medium-high heat Add the cabbage to the pan Add the red bell pepper Stir-fry for 1–2 min 15 ml rice wine (optional) Stir-fry for another 30 seconds The rice wine elevates the flavor of the cabbage Remove the veggies from the pan 3 tsp olive oil to a hot pan over medium-high heat Add the marinated chicken to the pan Spread the chicken evenly Cook over medium-high heat until the bottom is golden Add the garlic to the pan Add the ginger to the pan Add only the white part of the green onions Stir fry everything together until the chicken is about 70% cooked Now it’s time to add the soy sauce mixture Stir fry 1 minute more Add the cornstarch and water mixture (slurry) Stir until the sauce thickens Add the cooked cabbage and bell peppers Add the green part of the green onions Give it a few quick tosses to mix everything And we are done!
