Please start making your own seitan, it’s so much better than anything you can buy in the store. Please. Don’t be afraid, take my hand.

That would be practical indeed.  You have a recipe for us?

It is so much better. This is inspiring! Do you have a preferred method. I’d love to get skilled enough to just make seitan from memory.

Every time I try to make it, it is always SO dense and difficult to work with 😭

    Itdoesnttastelikechicken has lots of recipes

I spent years cooking in the industry and went to school and I still only come up with a meat bread failure. Maybe I’ll master it someday though! Thanks for the kind reminder.

    AGREED.

I’ve only made it once so far, but my vegan seitan steaks came out juicy, tender, chewy (in a great way!) & flavourful!

I plan to continue & make meatballs, soy sausages

    I agree wholeheartedly.

I’m just here to shout from the rooftops that all seitan haters should try making seitan by washing flour instead of using VWG. I hate the VWG aftertaste and still taste it even when I use beans and/or tofu in VWG recipes, but there is no such aftertaste when you wash the flour. Use bread flour if you can!

I was vegetarian for 20 years and vegan for 5 and only recently tried my hand at seitan. So much easier than I thought it would be! I have no idea why I was so intimidated. Your food looks delicious! Maybe I’ll make another batch this weekend…

I was making seitan for years, perfected the chicken shreds if I may say so myself 😉 But now the supermarkets sell so much vegan stuff I’m honestly happy to be able to buy everything rather than diy it.

I tried once. Soggy disaster. And I followed the recipe exactly. I’ve never had things not work for me.

I’ve never used cheese cloth when making seitan. What does it do and how does it change the final product ?

  12. My self-made seitan tasted sooo good but it also melted my blender xD

I stopped making it and I don’t know why. You’re right, it’s delicious as hell. You sir or madame, or watermelon, or what else we have nowadays (I don’t keep up, but I also don’t discriminate), have inspired me to make satan’s log.

P.S. I like your kindle, or book reader, unlike a certain someone.
