Last year we were on holiday in Tuscany where we’ve bought a few bottles of the 100 Parker rated Sassicaia 2021.
While I was extremely reluctant to open one of the bottles at such young age, my wife was very convincing, so I caved in 😂 (married men will understand).
I got us some filet mignon from Argentina to pair it with.
We were simply mind blown. I did not expect it to perform so well so young. We’ve had Sassicaia several times before (different vintages), and I’ve never been so starstruck before. Perhaps only the first time experience (was a 2015) comes close to it.
While it is tannic, the tannins are quite polished for such a young wine.
On the nose there is a lot of cherry, clove and slight hints of cinnamon and cedar.
This really translates on the palate as well, where there is also red currant and some blueberries as well. The aroma profile is quite complex, so I’m definitely not doing it justice with this description.
It is amazingly well balanced and velvety.
Can't wait to try this wine again in 5, 10 and 15 years. It can only get better!
Monica has really hit the spot with this one!

You’re going to need more than one bottle wash all that meat down.
Wasn’t sure if this was the Costco subreddit for a second
This picture made me salivate.
I got this one at Costco a few years back. Someone tried to talk me out of it but I still went with it
