There are SO many places to eat in EPCOT — how do you know which one is the right fit for your vacation?

France Pavilion

With cuisine from all around the world and sit-down experiences themed to outer space and under the sea, and everything in between, the choice can be overwhelming. So that’s why we recently headed to Chefs de France — we’re bringing you a full review to see if this spot is somewhere you should stop by!

Background

Chefs de France is one of the table service spots in EPCOT, and it’s located in the France Pavilion, right at the front!

Chefs de France

This dining location recently made some menu changes, including adding new entrees. They’ve changed up some appetizers and desserts within the last year as well.

Get ready to eat!

We’re excited to try the new offerings and see how they stand up!

Atmosphere

You check in for your meal underneath the awning at the entrance. There’s a small waiting area here where you can sit until your table is called.

There are a few different dining rooms inside, and each of them has its own special charm.

It’s beautiful in here!

There’s a lot of natural light due to windows all around the dining space, and that provides some excellent views for people-watching during your meal.

Stunning!

The whole space has an upscale vibe, but it’s not as pricey as some of EPCOT’s other offerings, including Monsieur Paul next door.

So let’s dive into the eats and try some new menu items!

Food & Drinks

To start off your meal, you get the Baguette Bread Service, and we adore the fact that they give you the whole baguette!

Baguette Bread Service

To us, it tastes higher in quality than the one from Les Halles, but that could be the fancier atmosphere influencing us. It has a light sourdough-like tanginess to it, and the butter served with it is salted. The bread has a nice crispy crust while being incredibly soft and fluffy on the inside. We couldn’t ask for anything more!

SO soft on the inside!

First up, we grabbed the Cassoulette d’escargots de Bourgogne au beurre persillé for $17.95. This is a Casserole of Burgundian escargots baked in parsley and garlic butter.

These are SO yummy. You get a couple that are a little bit more slimy than others, but the texture is chewy with the light and fluffy pastry on top. The snails have a decent saltiness, but the main flavor is garlic and buttery — there’s so much butter they’re SWIMMING in it! They’re swimming in butter. These are overall very solid and delicious, so we totally recommend!

We love us some snails!

For an entree, we’re trying the new Poulet Cordon Bleu for $39.95. It’s breaded chicken breast, smoked ham, potato puree, peas, and bechamel. All we have to say is WOW!

Poulet Cordon Bleu

This tastes like something you’d have for Christmas dinner in the best way. It’s served with potato puree, peas, carrots, and bechamel on the side, and those elements blend seamlessly together. The potatoes are so smooth and buttery, and the peas are cooked to the point where they burst in your mouth. The meat is totally the star, though!

Consider us BIG fans

You’ve got salty ham stuffed inside a thick piece of chicken with a thin, crispy crust, and dipping a slice of the meat in the bechamel is just perfection. This is comfort food to the max, and great to order when you want some extra protein in your diet.

We HIGHLY recommend!

For dessert, we picked up the Gateau aux 3 chocolats, glace a la vanille for $14.95. This is made with a 3-layer chocolate cake and served with vanilla ice cream on the side. Previously, there was a chocolate tart here that we really enjoyed, and this cake has replaced it.

Gateau aux 3 chocolats, glace a la vanille

We’ve eaten a dozen mousse domes in Disney World over the years, and while this is probably the best of them, it doesn’t stand out to us the way the chocolate tart that used to be here did. The chocolate is rich and creamy, and the cake layer on the bottom is moist and fluffy, but it’s difficult to distinguish the three layers flavor-wise. Unless we’re really craving chocolate, we’d order something different.

Good, but nothing super special

However, the vanilla ice cream is the standout here  — it’s got a fantastic, strong vanilla flavor with cake crumbles on the side that mix perfectly.

It’s also important to note, we could have ordered these menu items and a beverage as a prix fixe meal for $67.95. However, you can only get the Annual Passholder discount by ordering separately, if that applies to you.

Magic or Tragic?

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

You love authentic French cuisine
You’re looking for a great sit-down meal
You’re a more adventurous eater and love trying new things

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

You’re looking for a cheaper meal
You’re a picky eater
You want a meal that’s quick, or can be taken on the go

Overall, we think this restaurant is a fantastic choice for those looking for a fancier meal in the park, and don’t mind taking the time out of their day. Table service meals take at minimum one hour, and are often closer to an hour and a half, sometimes even two hours. It’s a great way to cool off and eat a hearty meal, though, during your park day!
