Have big a big fan of CTBF, but the last visit left a lot to be desired in both food and quality compared to a visit a few months ago

As always the first few bites continued to be stars of the show, however the flavors feel very repetitive using the same ingredients but with different preparations despite visiting a few months after (they no longer have the uni waffle which was a personal favorite)

One new dish that featured uni and snow crab was delicious, but the crab definitely overpowered all other flavors (there was uni, razor clams etc)

The latter half of the meal was exactly the same as the previous visit (delicious but less impactful this time around)

Also sadly no cookies to take home this visit

So TLDR: disappointing experience at CTBF. The current menu doesn’t have a lot of changeover and the new dishes also miss a bit of the complexity and execution of the past

Ferran Adrià looked at all the reservations at El Bulli to make sure no one got the same menu twice. Everything was as personalised as possible. It didn’t change the story however. Food with depth and context. And you feel special. Understandingly with a price tag.

I find very few restaurants go this length (anymore). There’s good cooking, excellent service, expensive ingredients, but no content. No love. No creativity. Steep prices however.
Claiming to be seasonal, local and sustainable. But besides some dishes changing every season, the menu doesn’t evolve. Caviar, truffles, tuna, crab, uni, wagyu or some other ingredient that expensive. And if you want, paired with expensive bottles of French wines. I think it’s boring and I look forward to something new.
