[Music] [Applause] [Music] Lentils, especially split red lentils. What can they not do? You can, of course, make some dal or soups and stews with them. Use them as a meat replacement in a bologn sauce. Soak and blend them up to make frittatas or tortillas. Use the cooked lentils to make burgers or fritters. Use them to make sloppy lentils. And we can also use them to make granola. There are many, many ways that you can use split red lentils, and I put many of those on a post on my website, and that link is listed in the description below. In today’s video, we’re going to use lentils to make four different dishes, my herb lentil chickpea stew, my lentil fritters, my lentil granola, and my lentil spinach soup. Did you know that split red lentils are also called masur dal? And they are much more cheaper in the Indian stores. So, if you have an Indian store nearby, get a load of these split red lentils as I use them in many of my recipes. Red lentils are actually brown lentils which have had their skin removed and they have been split. Now, let’s make these four recipes with split red lentils. The first one is my popular lentil chickpea stew. In this stew, I did not add my usual spices like Indian spices or curry spices and stuff like that. But I went for a more Italian flavor profile with some sundried tomato and herbs and some coconut milk or some other non-dairy milk or non-dairy cream to add that creaminess. And this stew just comes out so fabulously delicious. Hundreds of you have made this stew, have loved it, and you keep making this again and again. This stew is also pretty flexible and versatile. You can use white beans instead of chickpeas or black beans or whichever other beans you want to use. You can change up the flavor profile to your preference. You can make a curried version. The variations are in the recipe notes on the post. [Music] [Applause] [Music] down. [Music] I never hurt you. [Music] The second one are my lentil fritters. They will kind of remind you of falafil. We cook the lentils with some aromatics and spices and then add some chia seeds and flax seeds and breadcrumbs. Scoop them onto a baking sheet and bake them to make these delicious fritter balls that you can serve any way you like. You can make it into a falafel kind of sandwich with some pita bread, some hummus, lettuce, onions, tahini dressing, and it’s just fabulous. I do have a tahini dressing to pair with these on the post as well because all of those flavors and creaminess goes amazingly well together. [Music] Do this dance. [Music] heart. [Music] Heart [Music] beat. [Music] The third one is my simple lentil spinach soup. We cook the lentils with some aromatics and then add some flavors like smoked paprika, balsamic vinegar, black pepper. It’s a super simple one pot soup, but it is so absolutely delicious. Add some garnishes like some sambal or a hot sauce of choice and serve the soup with some garlic bread, some sourdough, some bakery bread or some crackers or anything else that you like. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Down [Music] every dance. [Music] worth. [Music] Worth me. [Music] The fourth one is my lentil granola. I know what you’re thinking. Why is she using lentils to make granola? Because I can, I guess. We cook the lentils until al dente and then we toss them in some maple syrup and some spices and then bake them. And these lentils get nicely crunchy and crispy and they’re so tasty. I also add some seeds and coconut into the lentil granola and bake it again until everything is nicely toasted. And then fold in some dried fruit like some cranberries, chopped dates or raisins or apricots or whichever other dried fruit you want to use. This is a grain-free, nut-free granola, and it’s easy and it’s versatile and absolutely delicious. You can change up the flavors. You can use different spices. You can add in different additions to the granola like different seeds. It has this crunchy, nutty flavor without having any nuts in it. You can also make a savory version of it and use it to top soups and stews. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Do you ever do the dance ever be [Music] Give up. [Music] I’m worth [Music] You can of course use lentils to make lots and lots of different dals and curries. I have multiple lentil dals and curries on the blog including my masur dal tarka, my turmeric spinach dal, my t thea dal which has a blistered green chili and garlic spiced oil tarka which is amazing. I also have my restaurant style butter dal and so many more. Many of these are listed on the post. So do check these out as well. If you try any of these lentil recipes or any of the other lentil recipes which are listed in my post, let me know in the comments how you like them. They all look epic. I love the way you don't take 20 minutes to show one recipe, (yawnfest) 😂. I'm disabled, and vegan. Hopefully if I send this to my son, who lives with me, who is also vegan, he will cook one, and treat me. When he does, I will let you know. Loved the music. ❤🇬🇧
Great video idea! Nice that it used a lot of pantry and freezer staples (like frozen spinach and I keep frozen carrots and onions since chopping is an issue sometimes).
