LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — Twenty years and countless cones, that’s what Lynchburg’s famous Mister Goodies is celebrating.

The ice cream trailer has been serving Lynchburg residents an abundance of sweet treats for two decades.

Owners Doug, Rhonda, and Andrew Urlich tell ABC13 that having everyone here to celebrate is incredibly humbling.

What started as a family dream has turned into a summertime tradition for families all over Lynchburg.

When Doug and Rhonda first moved to Lynchburg, they noticed there were no ice cream stands in the area. Doug saw the Mister Goodies trailer on eBay and decided to solve this dilemma on his own, eventually bringing his son, Andrew, on board with him.

“He bought the trailer, but we didn’t have a location for it, so we spent six months after buying the trailer looking for a location,” Andrew said. “This was kind of the last resort option for us, which is amazing. Now we can’t imagine being anywhere else.”

The couple and their son started from the ground up, learning flavors, counting change, and serving every dessert with love. Now, Mister Goodies has been sitting in the same spot for 20 years.

“What’s really cool is we’ve had people come up that started coming here as babies, and now they’re in college,” Andrew said. “So we’ve been able to see them grow up at Mister Goodies as well. There are just so many factors to the business that’s really humbling to us as owners.”

As the years went on, the community grew. Mister Goodies lovers continue returning for their sweet treat.

“It’s just kind of home when you can come out to some place that you enjoy and see people you know. Your friends and stuff and hang out, it’s part of home,” Lynchburg resident, Cristie Bowyer, said.

Everyone, young and old, loves a Mister Goodies ice cream cone.

Whether it be for a birthday or just to cool down from the heat, no matter the reason you come to the stand, Mister Goodies hopes that you will leave full and satisfied and maybe with a sugar rush.

The owners said they will continue to serve every guest with a smile, and they’re hoping to stick around for another 20 years.
