Hey everybody. Today, Gina Young’s going to show you all how easy it is to make a delicious baked sweet potato. This recipe is super simple. It tastes good. So easy to put together. Your whole family is going to love it. Here’s what you’re going to need. You’re going to need some lovely sweet potatoes or yams. Kind of like the same thing, right? I know you all agree with me. First thing that we’re going to do is we are going to poke some holes into our sweet potato by using just a fork. Okay. Just get you, you know, maybe three like that. And then we’re going to turn it over and do it again. The reason for doing this is because you don’t want it to bust open in your oven or your microwave. And guess what we’re doing? We’re not putting them in the oven because guess what? If you put them in the oven, they take forever in a day to cook. We’re cooking these in the microwave. Now, there’s two different ways you can do this. You can take your sweet potatoes, bake them in the oven. If you’re that person that wants to bake them in the oven, you’re going to oil them down. You’re going to put some salt and pepper on here. And then you’re going to take aluminum foil, cover them up, and put them on a baking dish and set them to bake. But since we’re doing them in the microwave, of course, you can’t use the foil. But I do have a silicone brush here. And my oil, whatever cooking oil you use, you can use. What this is going to do, it’s going to make your baked potato taste like one of those steakhouse potatoes that is so delicious. You know how it’s so good, you eat the skin, too? That’s how the sweet potato is going to be. It’s going to be so delicious. And you season the skin. So, not only will this oil help to give a nice crispy skin to your sweet potato, but what it also does is it helps for the seasonings to adhere to your potato. So, let’s lightly season it with some salt. Give it some great flavor. Those that can’t use salt, leave it out. And then we’re going to put some black pepper on here. I do this with my white potatoes when I’m making them as well. Chef’s kiss every time. So, now let’s do the second one while we’re right here. I hope you all are having a great day today. And if you’re not, hopefully I can brighten up your day with this hair recipe. How many of you all love a good sweet potato? Whether you’re cooking them for the holiday or baking them like I’m doing today, they’re super healthy and pretty easy to make. Go ahead and salt and pepper this one. Don’t be afraid to season it. I love the skin on the baked potato. I’m I tell you one thing, the way I season my baked sweet potatoes, you’re you’re gonna be so interested in how I do it and what I do after this comes out of the microwave to make it taste spectacular. Let’s get these into the microwave. And I turn them on 9 minutes. And half the way during the cooking process, we’re going to turn them over on the other side to make sure that other side gets completely cooked as well. The microwave. And I want to make sure that they’re separate from each other. If you put them too close, they will only just steam in that microwave. Let’s get them on 9. Spices we’re going to use to make our baked sweet potato taste absolutely amazing. Listen to me. If you don’t like nutmeg, you don’t have to use it. You can always use all spice. All spice is amazing. I just don’t have any. But I am going to be using some nutmeg, some cinnamon, salt and pepper for a little bit of savoriness, and some butter. Your butter can be salted or unsalted. But there’s one special thing that I like to do when I’m making a baked sweet potato or any kind of baked potato. I I do this for my family and friends. What I do, you you ever been to a steakhouse, you order the baked potato and when they give it to you, there’s just a slit down the middle. They give you butter and sour cream on the side. I can’t stand that. Here’s what I like to do. When I open the baked potato up, I kind of squeeze it and I take that potato meat is what I like to call it. And I take my fork and I fluff it out for you, right? Don’t Don’t give me a potato anymore ever again with just a slit. And you have to do it yourself. I don’t want to have to work. I want to just be able to go in right for that potato. So, I’ll show you in this video how I fluff that beautiful potato meat out. And then we season. Four minutes is up. Let’s go ahead and flip our potatoes over on the other side so they can cook nice and evenly. And I like to use that paper towel. It really helps to absorb, you know, like any juices that may come from your sweet potato and also that oil that we put on here. Flip them over. Restart the microwave. Potatoes are out. So now, were they done in that 9 minutes? Absolutely they weren’t. So what I had to do because this one right here is a bit smaller, I put this one on two more extra minutes. I put this one on four more extra minutes. And how would you know? Well, what you would do is you would simply take a fork or a butter knife. You stick it in. It goes in with ease. Comes out with ease. It’s perfectly fork tender. Okay. So, that’s what to look for. All right. So, now here’s what I like to do. This is where it gets fun. And I don’t even know what meats we’re going to have today, but we were definitely bound to have sweet potatoes. It’s super hot, so kind of bear with me. All right. Remember I said how I like to kind of push it? We do like that. Okay. And now remember I also said I like to fluff that meat up for my family and friends. And this is how you do it. I know it’s not meat, but I love to call it potato meat. I do this with my regular potatoes as well instead of just giving it to them like that. That’s lazy. I think it is. All right. Beautiful. Once we do this, the first thing we’re going to put down inside of this lovely sweet potato is our butter. And once again, your butter can be salted, it can be unsalted, whatever floats your fanny. Okay, beautiful. Let’s go ahead and grab our butter right about now. We’re going to salt and pepper it cuz you need that little bit of savoriness to bounce up against that uh cinnamon or nutmeg that you’re using. I I don’t skimp on the butter. So now, if there’s somebody afraid of butter, you can just look away. All right, watch this. Salt and pepper. Oh my goodness. Beautiful. Guess what I left out. But I’m not going to leave it out. Sugar. Got to put some sugar in here. For those that don’t want sugar, you can just eat it like this and it will be super delicious because as we know, sweet potatoes are already sweet by themselves, right? We know that to be a fact. But I’m putting some brown sugar on this thing. Watch this. Oh, lovely. All right, I’m going to go right in with nutmeg. Just a dash because it can be strong. But I’m going to put purposely put a nice amount of cinnamon on here. And then we’re going to double back with our sugar. Sugar time. If y’all enjoyed this here video, give me a thumbs up. I put land on lakes honey butter on mine really you don't need nothing else but sometimes I will add cinnamon but really you don't need it ,Its delicious ๐Ÿ˜‹ Looks so good ๐Ÿ˜‹ I love a good sweet potatoes.
