This is the pic from marketplace, before any cleaning or anything. I got it free 🙂 can anyone tell me about it? I'm aware it's a good find but unfortunately I know nothing about grilling 🫣 Google seems to say there's a way to smoke in this. Is that true?

I just started grilling for the first time ever in my life. Coal electric gas, never used em. I made smoked wings, some thighs, some veggies too. All of it I learned by watching YouTube videos of people using it and surfing on this subreddit. Do some reading and watch some videos. All the info you are looking for is there.
awesome grill. i have the same one but in sage green. but yeah, first gen One Touch Platinum. just be careful with the table, never lift from there, they tend to break.
I can tell you that you definately scored!
Wow Free is a great deal. The Weber Performer is one the best charcoal grills you can get, The table is large work surface, lid bale holds the lid out of the way and it has the quick ash sweeping One-Touch cleaning system, Be sure to clean out the ash after every session to avoid too much build up. check to be sure that those ash cleaning sweeper blades are flat against the inside of the kettle. ( sometimes they get bowed up or bent from too much build up.). You can smoke a full size Texas brisket , cook chicken thighs, sear, steak, seafood, even throw a cast iron skillet and do some slow cook chili.
I would replace that table with a metal one,

Contact Weber support, register the grill, (it might not have been registered by previous owner)
They might send you replacement part under warranty ( ash sweepers)
