Brockton officials trade barbs, accusations on Boys & Girls Club expansion. What was said

The original deal granting the Boys & Girls Club of Metro South the site for its long-delayed expansion in Brockton could be “illegal,” School Committee Vice Chair Tony Rodrigues told The Enterprise. According to Rodrigues, the city carved out a parcel of school land for the club in exchange for the club’s funding a new turf field. This sort of “quid-pro-quo” dealmaking is not allowed, he said. “This was, from the beginning, ‘Give us this land and we’ll pay for a turf field,’” he said.

At Brockton’s Italian Kitchen, hand-breaded chicken parm sandwiches are classics for a reason

As The Enterprise’s semi-new food writer, I believe it’s important that I try all the classic Brockton staples. This week it was time to try another staple: Italian Kitchen. Italian Kitchen is now in its 63rd year of operation. It’s a restaurant — and I mean this as an overwhelming compliment — that is exactly what you would expect. It’s comforting. It’s familiar. It’s authentic. The chicken parmesan sandwich passes the test with flying colors. Everything — the cheese, the bread, the sauce, the chicken — each ingredient plays its own role within this symphony of sandwich.
