Just bought an XL Big Green Egg after reading basically every post on this forum, about seven cookbooks, and binge watching Captain Ron’s great playlist on the Egg on YouTube. I bought just a little bit of charcoal. The Egg arrives this Saturday! I’m coming from a Weber Genesis, so this will be a new experience for me.
Fortunately, I think I bought enough charcoal for a week or two…

The xl eats it quick, you definitely didn’t get too much
I use Fogo exclusively in my egg. You won’t be disappointed.
Better store it somewhere safe from the humidity and damp. Nothing more frustrating than trying to get above 300 degrees with damp coal—and it doesn’t do low temp smokes well either.
Hope your HEAVY up front investment becomes a lifelong hobby and not a two month “because it’s new” shopping fever 😎
