CLEVELAND, Ohio – Astoria Café & Market is holding a wine dinner on the patio this week.

It’s 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23.

It will feature South Africa Braai (barbecue) from Chef Cory Kobrinski. Diane Mercure of Kysela Pere et Fils distributor will guide the tasting. Wines are from Babylon’s Peak, a winery on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa.

• Greeting: Tanzanite Brut Cap Classique, a sparkler made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

• 2024 Babylon’s Peak Chenin Blanc with chilled seafood display – oysters, shrimp, lobster with mignonette, Louis sauce (tangy and creamy), cocktail sauce, mustard sauce and lemon.

• 2021 Babylon’s Peak Pinotage (red grape, a cross between Cinsault and Pinot Noir) and 2019 Babylon’s Cinsault with meat and cheese platter, chef’s selection of cheeses with semi cured biltong (cured meat) and grilled boerewors (popular South African sausage).

• 2019 Babylon’s Peak Shiraz and 2020 Francois Van Niekerk Pinotage with entrees: Grilled half quail with sweet chili sauce, grilled lamb chops with mint sauce, filet mignon with monkey gland sauce. Side of Dauphinoise potatoes (thinly sliced, baked in cream), sweet corn and green beans.
