Must-try Japanese foods 🇯🇵🍜🍱

🍜 Ichiran Ramen
Ichiran is Japan’s most famous ramen shop. Their rich and creamy tonkotsu (pork bone) broth is incredibly satisfying!

🍚 Katsuya
A beloved chain among locals, especially men. The crispy texture of the tonkatsu (pork cutlet) is simply irresistible!

🍖 Sawayaka
This hamburger steak restaurant is a hidden gem among foreigners but wildly popular among Japanese—people line up for 2 hours! Only available in Shizuoka Prefecture.

🍲 Marugame Seimen
Cheap, fast, and delicious! This chain offers authentic and affordable udon. When you think of udon in Japan, this is the place!

🍜 Yamashita Honki Udon
Famous for its creamy udon that looks great on Instagram! Extremely popular among young people—and it tastes amazing too!

🍜 Kasugatei
Known for abura soba (oil noodles), this shop is perfect for those who want to experience a bold and filling Japanese dish.

Did you try the take home version of Ichiran? Surprisingly very close to the restaurant version

Ichiran is a global chain , why go to Japan to eat that when you have endless independent, incredible places only there?

Ichiran is anything but a must-try, it’s like saying “must try” American food is a Big Mac

I recommend asking a Japanese person before visiting Japanese and get their opinion on their favorite places. I never recommend Ichiran. It’s just so touristy.

I always recommend Tonchin in Ikebukuro.

  4. Ichiran is actually the worst ramen I’ve eaten in Japan in all my years here.

The service is bad, the broth is passable at best, it’s double the price of other establishments and you don’t even get to experience japanese culture since no local goes there ever.

What even is the last picture btw?

all I do on this app is starve

^someone commented this on a tik tok food post and I found it absolutely hilarious. I am hungry right now too. This is the perfect opportunity to quote it. The food looks great, btw!!

  6. In the 4th picture with the udon, what is in the small steel teapot? Everything looks delicious btw.

I really liked okonomiyaki, we don’t really have anything that compares in America, like I don’t even know of any Japanese restaurant that offer it
