Looks like the heat resistant paint is peeling off. Can it just be scraped off and used as is? Should I just toss it and get a new one?

Not trying to snark… but how/why did it catch on fire?
SpinachLife7139
Nope. Drop it off at my house for disposal.

Um kinda a dumb question as it uses fire to cook. Just clean it and keep coocking

You’ll probably need a new augur motor which is roughly 20-30 on Amazon. Get a can of heat resistant grill spray paint. Just need some sand paper for the rust and you’ll be fine. Ive seen grills made from big ol rusty truck gas tanks this is okay.

Mine went up last year, had to hit it with a fire extinguisher. Gave it a very thorough clean a while after and it’s still good.

Just clean it, take everything out and clean it with a vacuum and a plaster trowel to scrap the grease off. The fire was caused by grease build up.

I’ve had my Pit Boss (700 Classic) catch fire twice, both times when I’ve opened the sear plate for burgers. I can cook at high temps, and often do, as long as I don’t open that sear plate. I’ve always scraped and vacuumed it out on a regular basis, but that’s apparently not good enough.

Yeah you’ll be fine. Clean it out and fire it up. Had this happen to me a year ago. Has been working just fine since.
