After my previous modification in https://www.reddit.com/r/espresso/s/UbxIXOcmaV
i got some feedback on my post about the accuracy based on how full the hopper was.
So rather than just adding a scale, i decided to add a touchscreen as well since i’m not using the button on the grinder anymore.
Next steps is to 3d print or craft some kind of holder for my portafilter that i can put directly on the scale.

that is actually interesting! bravo!
super cool!
This is fun to see…. Love the ingenuity
This is pretty cool
Put it into a single unit and sell it for $1000 like those other grind by weight grinders
Buddy reinvented a $10 amazon scale. Spend some time with your family
this is wonderful work
You sir, are a mad scientist!
Just a curiosity, is this pid based on weight/time, like “ideally is 8s” then you adjust like “7s passed by but you are 0.2 behind so timer gets .5 extra? Planning on the same stuff on a df54… just missing an accurate (and fast) load cell…
0.3 of a gram is still enough to change the flow rate of your espresso.

Check this post out. It has the ability to adjust the grind time after finishing each grind to get within .1g of your set value. I modified this to put on my df64 and I have been using it for years. Couldn’t live without it now.
