Both of these are the same species and they used to grow in the same container, when i separated them to give the larger one a bigger pot the smaller one lost way more rots than the bigger one. Both used to be green but then the smaller one turned purple. I have another container with 5 larger ones of the same species that i haven't separated due to not having egnouth pots and all of those are Purple as well. I bought the seeds from whitehotpeppers and i think they mentioned that they where unstable seeds. I can't check since they stopped selling them and i bought the seeds 3 years ago. What do yall think?

I agree with forbiddenfreak. It probably just inherited more purple from its parents
Is this “Sandra’s Giant Orange”? If so, mine did this early on, but the color changed back to green once it was comfortable outdoors.
It says purple right now the pot goofy…. maybe some phosphorus deficiency. If you’re giving it fertilizer with phosphorus in it or suspect that it should already be in the soil you can check your soil ph. Some nutrients get locked out from uptake at different ph levels. I’ve heard too intense of light exposure can do that to some plants too, based on genetics. Also, cold temps can bring out purple hues but that’s like 50f.
