I just had to drop $180 replacing the regulator, cast iron grilling grate, and firebox grate. Still a heck of a lot cheaper than a new one!

I started with a rack of baby backs using a spice rub I whipped up, some spritzes of diluted apple juice, and homemade BBQ sauce. This was my first time using it so was learning on the fly about controlling the temperature, I found that when it got to 250F and just wouldn’t come back down that a pan of water helps drop it down just enough. These came out incredible and I can’t wait to do other things.

That’s an insane price. I would have forgone replacing the therm and just got a smoke Singals from ThermoWorks. I also prefer the smokeware steel cap over the cast iron one but I also like to cook in the rain.

  6. When ever I buy from old people I get them to run by a friend or family so I’m not taking advantage of them.
