Just took delivery of my Big Green Egg today—amazing bit of kit. I really enjoyed putting it together and was excited to get it all set up.

Got to the final step: unboxing the convEGGtor… only to find it’s broken. Looks like the driver dropped the box. Absolutely gutted.

Hoping John Lewis customer service comes through—putting a lot of faith in them right now.

    that sucks dude.
they should replace it pretty easy if it’s any consolation.

FedEx absolutely crushed an entire Medium Egg that came with the Miller Lite Big Green Kegg I was able to snag off eBay luckily my local dealer hooked me up with a replacement base and dome

Think something is going on with the build quality of these conveggtor’s. I just bought a new one about a month ago. It was a replacement for one I’ve had for a while and ended up with crack. I’ve since cooked a few times with this new one. This past weekend, went to drop it in and a leg snapped in the exact same location as what your photo shows. Looking at your box, I don’t see any damage other than you can tell where the bundled packaging strap was at. My hunch is there’s a defect in these things. When I said I dropped mine in, I didn’t drop it from 5′. I dropped it in from about an inch away like I always do and the leg broke. I wish I had kept it and took a photo. The break pattern is like spot the fuck on as yours!

Does everyone here still use the ceramic conveggtor? I switched to a cast iron one off amazon and haven’t looked back.

Hope you werent planning a long low n slow cook for your first run… but youre still good to go for a hot burn to clean the inside and then ready for some hot n fast cookin!

If you for some reason can’t get a replacement, I’ve been using my indirect plate for 5 years broken in the same spot as yours. I just put the broken leg in first, and scoot the rest of the indirect plate as far into the broken leg as I can. Works great if you have some insulating grilling gloves you can put it in once the egg has reached your desired temp.
